What is a Christian Ashram
Created for accountability, fellowship, and discipleship, it was brought to North America in 1940. The Christian Ashram, whether in the one day, weekend, or weeklong format, continues as an effective way to authentically connect with one another and with Jesus Christ in the 21st Century, as the kingdom of God in the miniature on earth.
How did the Christian Ashrams begin
The Christian Ashram was founded in 1930 by Dr. E. Stanley Jones, missionary to India. Dr. Jones, world famous missionary, evangelist, and author, established the Christian Ashram movement at Sat Tal, India, where he took the ancient ashram format and gave it Christian content, grounding the program in Jesus Christ. At the time of his death there were 75 Christian Ashrams established in the United States, Canada, and around the world.
We will have campfires this year, and you can join us
in person or on Zoom!
We are committed to bringing the Ashram experience to people young and old, new and those who have been with us for awhile. There will be programs for people ages 3 and up in person, and for adults on Zoom, which include times where we are all together, and times where we are broken up by age groups. We in Arizona will be welcoming friends from .California, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Tennessee, Canada, and India. All times are Mountain Standard Time. In place of our meal times, there will be discussion times in our Zoom forums throughout the weekend which are optional, and in which all are welcome to participate.
Open Heart Hour
On Friday evening, we will share our Open Heart Hour which begins our Christian Ashram. It is this activity which helps to form the bonds that will be cemented over the weekend. We invite you to answer three questions. Take some time to write out your responses and post them on our padlet, or respond orally during our Open Heart Zoom meeting.

Why am I here?
• Who invited me to spend this weekend here?
• Why have I chosen to spend this weekend in this particular way?
• Why did I say "Yes" to this opportunity?

What do I want?
• What would I like to get out of this weekend?
• What are my expectations?
• What are my hopes for the weekend?

What do I need?
• What do I need most from God right now?
• What miracle am I praying for in my life right now?
• What would I be willing to give up to have a major transformation in my life right now?
Prayer Vigil
When we pray, we align ourselves with the purpose and power of God. – E. Stanley Jones
What is the Prayer Vigil?
You are invited to share in the Prayer Vigil where someone is at prayer around the clock. You are encouraged to pray and meditate rather than to spend the time in reading. The Prayer Vigil begins immediately after the Hour of the Open Heart and closes just before the Hour of the Overflowing Heart. A schedule is posted. Please sign up for a particular period of time to pray for the Ashram.

What are some things that I can do during this quiet time?
Spending quiet time with God can be an experience which transforms your heart. You can:
- Praise and thank God for all that He has done for you.
- Talk to God about what’s on your mind and heart.
- Read about the needs of others on the Prayer Wall.
- Ask God to meet your own needs and those of others.
- Seek God's guidance by reading the Bible or other inspirational books.
- Most of all, listen for God's still, small voice. He has answers and words that are just for you.
You can write your thoughts and prayer requests in your journal or on the Prayer Wall on the website. That way people can pray for your concerns. Remember, this is an online prayer wall, so you may want to avoid using specific names. God has a private office. Follow the instructions on the Prayer Wall for recording your requests.

Where is a good place for me to pray during this time?
-
Choose a quiet place in your home away from a lot of activity and noise – maybe a chair in your bedroom or study. This could be a place for your whole family to use for prayer.
-
Make this place special to you. Place on a small table those things that will remind you of all that you have to be grateful for – perhaps a cross, your Bible, a special book. You might want a candle, a photo of your family, .
-
Bring a journal or something else to write in. You may want to use your smart phone or laptop to connect to the Arizona Christian Ashram website so you can leave your thoughts and prayer requests for others who will be praying over the course of the weekend.
-
Your phone can also be a source of inspirational reading, but try not to take phone calls or respond to messages during this time.

Please sign up for your own prayer time.
Time slots are 30 minutes during the day and one hour through the night.
You can sign up any number of times you would like between Friday at 8:00pm to Sunday morning at 10:00am.
All the times are Mountain Standard Time, so think about what time will work for you where you live.

It is easy to sign up.
-
Go to the Prayer Vigil sign up button on the Home page of the website.
-
Sign up for the time(s) you would like to take.
-
Remember to think about what the time difference is where you live.
