What is a Christian Ashram
Created for accountability, fellowship, and discipleship, it was brought to North America in 1940. The Christian Ashram, whether in the one day, weekend, or weeklong format, continues as an effective way to authentically connect with one another and with Jesus Christ in the 21st Century, as the kingdom of God in the miniature on earth.
How did the Christian Ashrams begin
The Christian Ashram was founded in 1930 by Dr. E. Stanley Jones, missionary to India. Dr. Jones, world famous missionary, evangelist, and author, established the Christian Ashram movement at Sat Tal, India, where he took the ancient ashram format and gave it Christian content, grounding the program in Jesus Christ. At the time of his death there were 75 Christian Ashrams established in the United States, Canada, and around the world.
Helpful Tips for Zoom Meetings
-
If you have headphones with a microphone, using them will be helpful to hear and to be heard.
-
When logging into Zoom, assure you click on “Join with Computer Audio”
-
There are various options for viewing the other people on the video conference. You can choose to only see the person who is speaking or you can see the other participants. If you will go to the upper right corner of the meeting and click “Gallery View,” you will see more of the participants on the call.
-
Good Zoom etiquette dictates that if you’re not speaking, you should mute yourself. In the bottom left screen in the toolbar, you can mute your audio (that is no one can hear you speak) or you can turn off your video. It is recommended that all participants mute audio to cut back on background noise while someone is speaking. When you want to speak, you can click on the microphone again to unmute yourself. You can also click: Alt + A to mute and unmute yourself. If you want to unmute quickly and for a short statement, you can hold the space bar to unmute yourself. In this case, you must hold down on the space bar to keep yourself unmuted.
-
If you click on “Participants” in the bottom toolbar, you will see a list of all the participants in the meeting. In this window, one of the features is “Raise Hand.” If you would like to identify yourself as someone who would like to speak, click this button. The person in charge of the meeting at that time, will identify you when he/she is ready for you to speak. This mechanism helps to bring a sense of order to the meeting.
-
In the bottom Tool Bar, you will notice a Chat button. This allows messages to be sent to all the participants in the Zoom Call or you can limit it to one specific purpose. We will use Chat periodically to convey a message to all the participants.
